Mysuru, July 12:- “Communal powers led to our defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections. In fact, I was shocked when I lost. But it does not mean I will be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Not even my dead body will go to BJP,” said former PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa here on Thursday.
He was responding to media reports in the city when questioned about him joining the BJP.
“I am a born Congressman. I will remain in the Congress and not pay heed to hearsay. No need to worry about what others say about me. I will remain in the Congress and continue to strengthen the party,” he said.
“I could not come out of the shock after losing the Assembly elections. My health was upset due to rigorous campaigning. I was undergoing naturalistic treatment and could not attend party programmes. Our government had given a government with no scandal or corruption. I could not bear the defeat,” he added. (MR/KS).
