Mysuru, April 3:- “I don’t want to become a king, but a labourer who works for the public selflessly,” said the founder of Uttama Prajakiya Party, actor Upendra at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Tuesday.
“Twenty-eight candidates from the party are contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The first list of 14 candidates has been released. We are getting a good response during our campaign,” he said.
“Ours is not a political party. It should grow as a people’s revolution. We will go to people with no party funds. If our party wins, we will give external support to the party people wish us to support,” he added.
“We don’t have any manifesto, what people say is our manifesto. The points in the manifestos should be registered in courts. If public representatives don’t work, action should be taken against them,” he added.
“No star campaigner will be there for us. Stars are only in movies. We don’t need star campaigners like Sumalatha Ambareesh and Prakash Rai. People are our stars. We are going to make people understand our ideologies,” he added.
“Politics should not be a business. We have come here in search of jobs for the jobless. Please give us an opportunity. Or else, we will have to search other jobs,” he added.
Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency candidate Asharani was present.
Fans rushed to take selfies with their favourite star soon after the press meet. (MR/KMR)
