Idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari cleaned

Mysuru, October 13:- The idol of the presiding deity of Mysuru, Goddess Chamundeshwari, was cleaned here on Tuesday (October 13). On the last day of Dasara when Jamboo Savari is held, the idol is placed in the ‘golden howdah’ to be taken on a parade.

Made of five metals, the idol was cleaned by persons who have been doing it for years. Only a couple of days back, the idol was brought from the Mysuru Palace to Chamundi Hills. The Goddess is offered special puja on the last day of Navaratri and symbolically placed in the howdah.

On October 17, the Dasara festival is given the go-ahead but not before the Utsava Murthy is worshipped. (MR/KS)
