IEEE Power and Energy Society Student Congress – 2016, a flagship event, was organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru in collaboration with IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter, recently.
Chief guest Sethuraman Ganesan, Chair, IEEE, PES, Bangalore Section, inaugurated the programme. He spoke about activities organised by IEEE PES Bangalore section during the last academic year in various institutes and asked the students to become active members of IEEE PES.
Dr Shobha Shankar, Professor and HOD, EEE, VVCE, gave a brief report on IEEE PES Student Congress – 2016 and highlighted the activities that were organised under VVCE IEEE PES Student chapter.
Principal Dr B Sadashive Gowda said that students should actively participate in such events and build their network which thereby helps them to learn from the leaders of power industry.
Inauguration was followed by a talk from Dr T Ilam Parithi, head, Opal RT technologies, Bengaluru, on “Tech trends and career opportunities for electrical engineers’ and ‘Innovations in the energy sector’ by Deepak Krishnan, manager, World Resources Institute, India.
Students from various institutions across Karnataka actively participated in the paper presentation and project demonstration contests.
