IIC JSS STU to host ’24-hour state-level Hackathon’ on Nov 1 and 2

Mysuru, October 30:- Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) to promote innovation culture and nurture the young minds of our country. A local chapter of the same has been formulated in JSS Science and Technology University (formerly SJCE).

The office-bearers and the student council members of IIC JSS STU have hosted various competitions and events in order to achieve the vision of this council. After hosting successful events like Ideathon, Know Your Problem (KYP) and entrepreneurial talks at the college and district level, IIC JSS STU is now hosting a “24-hour state-level Hackathon” on November 1 and 2 in association with Nokia and Star Knowledge Ventures.

The hackathon is aimed to harness the potential of all innovative minds across the state and get the best out of them. Both hardware and software streams are made available and students are free to choose either of them. Both the streams will be judged and awarded separately. At the end of the event, each team will transform their ideas into an effective solution that aims to help society.

The competition requires students pursuing BE/BTech, MTech, BCA or MCA to participate in teams of 3-5 to solve a given problem statement within a span of 24 hours. All basic facilities including food and accommodation will be arranged for all the participants. The winners will be awarded cash prizes adding up to Rs 80,000, certificates, coupons and other goodies.

Dr Anurag Srivastava, chief operating officer (CEO), Society for Innovation and Development, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, will be the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. He has mentored and helped in strategic investments of various new-age companies and lead various departments of Wipro as the senior vice president, will preside over the event. Vice-chancellor of JSS Science and Technology University Prof L Jawahar Nesan will grace the occasion.
