Illegal ration cards: Demand for CoD probe

Mysuru, December 21:- President of Karnataka Rajya Sarvajananga Hitharakshana Vedike, Venugopal has alleged that state government has distributed ration cards even to those who are not eligible. “This has been done with an eye on the Assembly polls,” he said.

“There are 1,06,000 houses in the city. But the BPL cards have been issued to more than 1.15 lakh households. Around Rs 400 crore is getting wasted. Village accountants are taking bribes and issuing BPL cards. Officials of food and revenue department are also involved in the scam,” Venugopal alleged.

“Only 25% of the poor have received ration cards in Mysuru. Poor have been cheated. On what basis, the food department has issued ration cards? Poor quality grains are being distributed. CoD probe should be ordered into this scam, failing which,  we will resort to protest,” he added.
