Illegal transportation of rice; two arrested

Mysuru, May 4:- Mysuru city police have arrested two persons who were trying to transport rice which was kept for ration cardholders. The police seized the lorry transporting rice to Mandya city and took two men into custody.

Mandi police inspector Narayana Swamy received information that a lorry (KA 37, 9479) was transporting rice illegally on May 2 at 2:15 pm. One Jabir of Lashkar Mohalla was transporting rice along with others. The rice which was for distribution for ration card holders was being transported illegally without any valid document. It is suspected that employees of government godown and officials are involved in this. The lorry was transporting the rice to Mandya city via KRS road. The police seized 15,060 kg rice and arrested Jabir and Raju of Tilak Nagar.

Mandi police have registered a complaint under IPC section 50/2020, column 406, 408 and 409.
