Mysuru, January 20:- “Thanks to improper supply of electricity, pump sets attached to borewells of farmers have gone for a toss. The short circuit is damaging the motors,” alleged former village panchayat member Manjunath.
“Farmers of Manchadevanahalli and other villages of Bylakuppe taluk are facing this problem. Farmers have grown various crops, totally depending on borewell water. Though the government supplies 3 phase electricity for 6 hours a day, due to the negligence of officials, this problem is prevailing. We have complained to CHESCOM officials, but it is of no use. Farmers are struggling even for drinking water. They provide 3 phase electricity at 2 am, that too for half an hour,” he added.
The farmers warned of severe protest if the problem isn’t solved. (MR/RBR).
