India bags 5 gold medals in South Asian Games

Prime News, International and National Sport, Kathmandu (Nepal), December 4:- India continues its outstanding performance at 13th South Asian Games in Kathmandu. Indian athletes dominated in the track and field events and clinched 10 medals including 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals today (Dec 4).

India won gold and silver medals in men’s and women’s discus throw events. Kirpal Singh won gold in men’s category with new meet record of 57.88 metres. Gagandeep Singh grabbed silver. In women’s section, Navjeet Kaur clinched gold and Suravi Biswas got silver.

In men’s long jump, Lokesh Sathyana won gold and Swaminathan Rao silver. In women’s long jump, Sandra Babu bagged bronze. In the women’s 200 metres sprint, Archana Susneent clinched gold and Chandralekha got bronze. In the men’s 10,000 metres run, Suresh Kumar clinched gold while in men’s section, Sajan Lama and Gyandash Singh won silver medals. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
