India-China border: PM Modi convenes all-party meeting

Prime News, National and International, Defence, Border, New Delhi, June 19:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened an all-party meeting today (June 19) at 5 pm to discuss the situation along the India-China border.

In a tweet, PMO said, the virtual meeting will be attended by the presidents of various political parties.

The meeting assumes significance in the wake of recent violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh.

The Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh that saw a violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops on the night of June 15 resulting in casualties on either side has strategic significance because of its proximity to the vital road link to Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) – the world’s highest landing ground that lies close to the Line of Actual Control and serves as an important aerial supply line. This DBO area is known in the Army as Sub-Sector North. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
