Mysuru, June 10:- The central government’s decision on demonetisation of high currency notes in 2016 has resulted in decrease in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the country is now facing a never seen before economic crisis.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Saturday, Congress national spokesperson Brijesh Kalappa said, “Under UPA rule the GDP of the country had a good value, now under the BJP government there is a decline in GDP. Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh had predicted that due to demonetisation nation’s GDP would decline by 1-2 per cent and his words today have come true. One GDP equals nearly to Rs 1.5 lakh crore and now with the decline of 2 per cent of GDP, a total of Rs 3 lakh crore is the loss to the country.”
“Narendra Modi when he assumed charge as Prime Minister assured to create more than two crore jobs in the country, but today the IT sector is preparing to issue pink card to its employees and around 1.5 lakh people in the country are facing a threat of losing their jobs,” he added.
“BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has kept a vision of Mission-150 for the 2018 Assembly elections in the state. But with the loss in by-polls, his vision has come down to Mission-50. There is no doubt about Yeddyurappa being the Opposition leader post 2018 Assembly polls,” Kalappa said.
Mysuru city Congress president R Murthy, Congress district president B J Vijay Kumar, Basavaraj Nayak Dileep Raj and others were present.
