Health News, Naional, New Delhi, June 24:- India reported 54,069 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 3,00,82,778, according to Union Health Ministry data.
The covid-19 death toll also increased to 3,91,981 with 1,321 fatalities linked to Coronavirus infections reported in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said.
The recovery rate has improved to 96.61 percent, while the weekly positivity rate remains below 5 percent, currently at 3.04 percent, and the daily positivity rate at 2.91 percent. The active caseload in the country also dropped to 6,27,057.
According to Union Health Ministry’s data, India has so far administered over 30,16 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines since the launch of the mega vaccination drive on January 16. As many as 25 crore people have received at least one dose, while over 5 crore have taken both doses. Under the new vaccination policy, which came into play from June 21, India inoculated over 88 lakh doses on day 1—a record; and over 53 lakh on day 2. India is looking to vaccinate all above 18 years by the year-end.
In the meanwhile, the health ministry has categorized Delta Plus as a variant of concern. So far, 40 cases of the Delta Plus variant have been found in India; most of these cases are from Maharashtra, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh. While the Delta Plus variant’s virulence and transmissibility are being investigated, the government has asked these states to immediately take up containment measures
