Mysuru, April 10:- With only eight days to go for the Lok Sabha polls, parties have upped their campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the state for the first time ahead of Lok Sabha polls here on Tuesday.
Modi, who addressed Vijaya Sankalpa rally at Chitradurga in the afternoon, addressed Mysuru in the evening. He began his speech in Kannada and thanked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and leaders from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Kodagu districts.
“I have come to Mysuru several times but I have not witnessed such a mammoth gathering. Mysuru has given the message to the nation that this time also, it will be BJP government at the Centre,” he said.
“Central government has given several schemes for the development of Karnataka and Mysuru region. Karnataka is a major state for the development of India,” he said.
“BJP released its election manifesto just a day before. Making India the 3rd strongest nation by 2030 is our aim. At one end, we have the BJP manifesto that strengthens the nation and at the other end, we have Congress manifesto that weakens India. People have to decide which is better for India,” he added.
“Eradication of poverty is possible only if India becomes Congress-free. BJP government has controlled the price hike. Congress gave 2G scam to India, whereas BJP gave cheap smart phones to India. Three crore farmers have received funds under Kisan Samman scheme. Karnataka government has not given the proper list of farmers,” he alleged.
“Sonia Gandhi made H D Deve Gowda step down as the Prime Minister. Fearing he may lose in Amethi, Sonia Gandhi asked Rahul to contest from Wayanad,” he said.
“When communists attacked our beliefs in Shabarimala, Congress stood by them. It is our responsibility to protect belief and tradition. We will make the Supreme Court understand the importance of Sabarimala heritage and protect it,” he assured.
“People remember the contributions of actor-politician late MH Ambareesh for the development of Mandya. People will support Sumalatha. Ambareesh and Sumalatha have contributed to Kannada and culture of Karnataka,” Modi said. (MR/KS).
