Indian-American economist Gita Gopinath to deliver lecture at JSS Hospital on May 20

Mysuru, May 13:-Mysuru-born Gita Gopinath, chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will deliver the 9th Endowment lecture at the golden jubilee celebrations of JSS Mahavidyapeetha in the city on May 20.

Dr Gita Gopinath is the first woman economist of the IMF, was born on December 8, 1971 in Mysuru.

At the golden jubilee celebrations she will speak on the “challenges of globalisation and need for co-operation at the Sri Rajendra Centenary Hall at JSS Hospital here at 10.30 am on May 20.

Gita Gopinath, a reputed Indo-American economist is a John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University, United States and director of the International Finance and Macro-Economics Programme at the National Bureau of Economics Research Organisation. (NAV)
