‘Indira Canteen’ getting ready to serve Bengalureans

Prime News, Karnataka, Bengaluru, June 28:- CM Siddaramaiah’s new scheme ‘Indira canteen’ is being constructed in all 197 civic wards in Bengaluru.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in a budget speech in 2017, promised to set up affordable canteens initially in Bengaluru, later all over Karnataka state. CM set a deadline of August 15 2017, to launch the ‘Indira canteen’.

The Bruhath Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is working to complete the construction before deadline. BBMP Mayor Padmavati, recently paid a visit to pre cast facility KEF Infra at Krishnagiri, Tamilnadu, which was assigned to construct the canteens.

As the canteens being constructed on pre cast technology, the canteen can be set up within two days at assigned places. Using pre cast technology the 197 canteens and 27 kitchens can be constructed within 40 days.

The firm KEF Infra assured the structures will last for 100 years, there should no concern about the stability of structures, all the pre cast structures will be ready by first week of August 2017, said BBMP mayor Padmavati.

Canteens will be supplied food through a centralised kitchen that will be set up in each of the 27 assembly constituencies in Bengaluru, as per directives from the government.
