Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal rejecting Karnataka’s plea for interim relief seeking Seven TMC of water for drinking purposes is disappointing. It is unfortunate that though the rivers like Mahadayi and Cauvery take their birth in Karnataka, the people of this state are denied their legitimate due. Politicians of other riparian states who can arm-twist the government at the Centre are taking advantage at the cost of Karnataka. Karnataka has the distinction of weak political leadership which can’t assert itself to safeguard the interests of the state as they are concerned about the chair. Whether it is Congress or BJP, these leaders are subservient to so-called ‘high command’, lack courage even to protest despite knowing injustice to Karnataka. Do we really need such leaders? If these leaders have state’s interest and courage to fight for the people, let them resign en masse in protest. Perhaps, only then the Centre may open its eyes. This is the time people need to teach lessons to our leaders to act.
