Captain of Karnataka state Para volleyball team, S Anthonappa on Thursday alleged that the president of National Para Volleyball Committee, Chandrashekhar is doing injustice to players and is involved in corruption.
He was addressing a press meet held here on Thursday. “Chandrashekhar, who was working in HEL Company earlier, was involved in corruption there too. After becoming the president of volleyball Association, he continued his corrupt practices there too. Instead of collecting Rs 20,000 by the volleyball players, he is demanding Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 and harassing the players,” he said.
“The para volleyball tournament between India and Sri Lanka is organised by flouting all the rules. The players were selected over phone calls and no proper selection process was held. No press meet was organised prior to the team selection. We have brought it to the notice of the Paralympics committee and director of sports department, yet no decision has been taken,” Anthonappa alleged.
He urged the concerned authorities to sack Chandrashekhar from the Paralympics association. “If he is not sacked, players have threatened to protest.” Para athlete Ganesh and Teertharaju were present at the press meet.
