‘Install statue of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa before poll code of conduct is in effect’

Mysuru, February 17:- Mysuru District Brahmana Yuva Vedike organised ‘Adhyaatmika Jagattu’ event to mark 182nd birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa at Ramakrishnanagar Circle on Saturday.

Former chairman of Mysuru Urban Development (MUDA) K R Mohan Kumar inaugurated the programme by paying floral tributes to the image of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa.

“Mysuru has a rich heritage and history. Ramakrishnanagar is one of the cleanest areas in the city. Thousands of senior citizens take a walk in the locality everyday. There has been a demand for the statue of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa at Ramakrishnanagar. When I was the chairman of MUDA, I took the initiative to apprise the government to install the statue of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa under the guidance of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram. But due to the negligence of the state government, the statue is yet to be installed at the circle. People’s representatives should come forward to install the statue before the election code of conduct comes into effect. If not, the residents will intensify the agitation for installation of the statue,” he added.

Elai Alvar seer of Vengipura Mutt, social worker Raghuram Vajapayee, Kannada actress Roopa Iyer, Corporator M K Shankar, Naveen Kumar, M D Parthasarathi, Mullur Guruprasad, H N Sridharamurthy, Vikram Iyengar, Ajay Shastry, Rakesh Bhat, Jayasimha, Kadakola Jagadish, and others were present.
