Mysuru, December 07:- All India Institutes of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru is celebrating “The International Day of Persons with Disabilities” on 8th December.
Revered personalities from various spheres who have been persistently working towards the betterment of the quality of life for persons with disabilities would also lend their supporting hand by participating in the event organised at AIISH said a press release.
The general public have also been invited to join for this good cause. On this occasion parents, caregivers, clients and other activists who have significantly contributed either at an individual level or at an organizational level to bring an altruistic change in the lives of persons with disabilities will be felicitated.
On this occasion the institute will also felicitate AIISH “Best mother of the year” with persons with disabilities.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities provides an opportunity to promote participation of persons with disabilities.
It aims to promote awareness regarding disability issues and the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities. It also aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness on the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
The theme for 2017 International Day of Persons with Disability is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”. The overarching principle of this theme is to ‘leave no one behind’ and empowers people with disability to be active contributors of society
Geetha N, In – charge District Disabled Welfare Officer, Mysuru will be the Chief Guest on this occasion and Dr S R Savithri, Director, AIISH, Mysuru will preside.
