International Yoga Day: Traffic curbs around MRC premises tomorrow

Mysuru, June 20:- In view of the mega yoga event to mark International Yoga Day at Mysore Race Course (MRC) premises in the city on Thursday, the Mysuru City Traffic Police has restricted traffic and diverted vehicular movement around the venue.

According to a press release from Mysuru Police Commissioner’s office, traffic restrictions have been imposed from 5 am to 10 am around Nanjangud Road JSS College Junction -Truck Terminal Road till Mysore Race Club Circle, Kurubarahalli Circle- Lalitha Mahal Road to MRC Circle and MG Road (Vanivilas Double Road) Nanjangud Under Bridge Junction to MRC Circle.

Alternatively the vehicles users have been asked to divert in the following places. Vehicles entering city from Nanjangud are asked to take compulsory left and pass via JLB Road, vehicles passing by Kurubarahalli Road should pass via MM Road, KSRTC buses commuting to Nanjangud must take BM Road, Ramaswamy Circle, JLB Road, buses commuting towards Kollegal must take Vasantha Mahal Junction-Nanjangud, MM Road- Vinaya Marga- Kurubarahalli Circle and take left near Lalitha Mahal Road.

PARKING FACILITY FOR VEHICLES

The vehicle parking facilities have been provided for the participants taking part in the yoga event tomorrow at various venues in the city. Students, people and yoga enthusiasts who will be taking part in the event may enter through six gates designated to them.

A total of six gates – Rana Pratapa Simha Race Course Gate, MRC main gate, the corner gate near the Truck Terminal Road, Golf Club Gate, West gate of MRC and another gate near the Truck Terminal.

Those entering from Gate No 1 and 2 are advised to park their vehicles at Karanji Lake, ATI premises and Circus Ground, people entering from Gate No 3 and 4 have been asked to park at Dasara Exhibition premises, Mall of Mysore parking, Doddakere Grounds, people entering from Gate No 5 and 6 are advised to park their vehicles at Rajahamsa Junction Nanjangud Road, JSS College premises on Mysuru-Ooty Road and at the Foot of Chamundi Hill.

A separate gate for VIPs and media persons has been made and they may park their vehicles at CAR Grounds.

The police have tightened security at the venue of the mega yoga event and deployed additional police personnel.

Sniffer dogs were pressed into service at MRC premises where thousands of yoga practitioners from Mysuru will assemble to retain the Guinness record for the largest yoga demonstration on the occasion of
International Yoga Day tomorrow. -(KK)
