International Yoga Summit in city on Nov 15 and 16

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will inaugurate the summit at 10 am tomorrow

Mysuru, November 14:- “AYUSH Ministry of the central government is organising two-day International Yoga Summit in the city for the first time on November 15 and 16,” said the director of the AYUSH department, Vikram Singh at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Wednesday.

“The event will be held at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). More than 700 representatives from India and 15 other countries will present their papers. Heart-related diseases are increasing due to modern lifestyle, pressure and bad habits. The summit is being held with the tagline – Yoga for the well-being of heart,” he said.

“Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will inaugurate the summit at 10 am. Health Minister Sriramulu, MP Pratap Simha, yoga exponent Baba Ramdev, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dr HR Nagendra, Rajesh Katocha, vice-chancellor of KSOU, Prof S Vidyashankar will be present. Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala will be the chief guest for the valedictory programme on November 16,” he added.

“The international summit is being organised for the past 4 years. This is the 5th convention. All the earlier summits were held in New Delhi. As Mysuru is known for yoga, organising the summit here holds relevance,” said commissioner of AYUSH department, Meenakshi Devi.

District AYUSH officer Dr Seethalakshmi said that yogathan, yoga march will be held as a part of the summit on November 14.
