The students of Maharaja College in the city were in for a musical treat at `Ishtakamya festival,’ a film promotion programme featuring songs, trailers and dance.
Talk about the promotion of a movie but it was not an ordinary promotion, it was much more than that – it was a showbiz, an extravaganza, an entertainment, a mega event full of music, dance and they enthralled the students with spectacular performances.
Noted director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar with a unique idea to promote creative movie, one being his own lshtakamya movie is travelling across Karnataka for the promotion. The lshtakamya festival witnessed screening songs, trailers and dance. Creating awareness among the people on the produced film is a regular feature of film-makers nowadays.
The songs rendered by singer Mohan and Shruthi troupe included not only of Nagathihalli Chandrashekar’s movie but took the audience to the 70s with songs like Teredide Mane 0. . . Baa athithi’ of Hosabelaku movie, 0 nanna Chethana . . . Aagu nee Anikethana of Kuvempu, Baa Nalle Madhu Chandrake,’ and Nooru Janmaku Nooraru Janmaku of America America movie. Later, a few of `Ish-takamya’ songs enthralled the audience and video clipping of the songs was also played.
Actor Mandya Ramesh said that the present day is witnessing a lot of violent incidents and many of the filmmakers were producing films aimed at the masses that depict the present society. “However, more efforts should be made to produce films which promote love and affection. Love can only be the medicine to eliminate violence,” he added.
MLA Vasu inaugurated the event. Serial famed actors Vijay Surya, Mayuri, who are playing the lead role in `Ishtakamya,’ producer, Y N Shankaregowda, Prof M Krishnegowda, Rangayana director H Janardhan and others were present.
