ISIS connection in Gorakhpur temple attack? Police say terror angle not ruled out

Prime News, National (Lucknow), April 5:- A man attacked security personnel stationed at the Gorakhnath temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on Sunday night. Two constables were reportedly injured in the incident.

This is significant because the Gorakhpur temple attack was carried out using a similar sharp weapon.

Intelligence agencies in India are investigating this video further and the police have said that the terror angle cannot be ruled out in the Gorakhpur case.

A man attacked Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel stationed at the Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on Sunday night. The man, identified as Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi, a chemical engineer, was arrested after a brief chase.

In a video that is being widely shared, Abbasi can be seen chasing cops with a sickle while the policemen and passersby lob bricks at him to defend themselves.

Two constables were reportedly injured in the incident.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the head priest or mahant of the Gorakhnath temple. (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
