It’s difficult to run newspapers these days: Minister V Somanna

26th annual day event of 'Kannada Belaku' observed in Mysuru

Mysuru, September 11:- “It is difficult to run newspapers these days,” said District in-charge Minister V Somanna.

He was speaking at the 26th annual day event of ‘Kannada Belaku,’ a weekly tabloid at Jaladarshini Guest House in the city on Wednesday morning.

“Electronic media is competing to give the latest news to the people. We should be happy that newspapers are still running and available. The print news industry has witnessed revolutionary changes. ‘Kannada Belaku’ weekly has been functioning since 25 years. The tabloid’s editor Muguru Nanjundaswamy is not just a journalist, but he also actively participates in events promoting Kannada. I am privileged to be part of this event,” he added.

“Mysuru Dasara is a heritage and cultural festival of Karnataka. The Dasara event will be held according to the Yadu dynasty of the Mysuru kingdom. People have to cooperate with the tourists who visit Mysuru during Dasara festivities,” Somanna said.

Well-known poetess and litterateur Dr Latha Rajashekar, senior journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar, BJP leader HV Rajeev, former president of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Muguru Nanjundaswamy and others were present. (KS, NGB)
