Mysuru, January 20:- “It is our duty to remember Kanakadasa who practiced and promoted humane values,” said MLA M Ashwinkumar.
He was speaking after paying floral tributes to the Nandikamba at the premises of Sri Gunjanarasimha Temple at T Narasipura during the procession held on the occasion of Baktha Kanakadasa Jayanthotsava organised by taluk Kurubas’ Association on Sunday.
“Valmiki, Kanakadasa, Buddha, Basavanna and Ambedkar have worked in their own ways to build a casteless society. The ideals, principles and messages of such great personalities is included in our Constitution. People’s representatives and officials should cultivate humane values and work towards a society without castes,” he said.
Earlier, MLA of Varuna Constituency Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah inaugurated the event. (KS, NGB)
