Jamboo Savari: ‘Arjuna’ rehearses with 650 kg weight

Mysuru, September 19:- The Dasara elephants participated in Jamboo Savari rehearsal by carrying weights on their backs here on Thursday.

Captain ‘Arjuna’ led the march with 300-kg sandbags and 350-kg wooden howdah. The officials of the forest department are readying the elephants for the final round rehearsal of the Jamboo Savari.

DCF Alexander and veterinary doctor Dr Nagaraj are guiding the rehearsal. The wooden howdah was loaded on the back of Arjuna using a crane. Arjuna marched confidently from the Mysuru Palace premises to Bannimantap Parade Ground in the city.

“Four elephants from the first batch are made to rehearse with weight. Arjuna is made to carry 600 kg. Dhananjaya, Abhimanyu, and Eshwara will be prepared in the next few days,” said Dr Nagaraj. (MR/KS)
