Mysuru, May 13:- “For refusing to admit children under Right To Education (RTE), Jnana Sarovara International SDchool has been fined Rs 1.60 crore and a notice has been issued to the school,” said Deputy Director of education department, H R Basappa.
He was speaking at the KDP meeting on Friday.
“Schools can be slapped with a fine of Rs 10,000 for not giving admissions to children under RTE. Jnana Sarovara school didn’t give admission to any children under RTE since 2012-13. The school will, therefore, have to pay the fine,” he added.
CEO of ZP, Shivashankar directed the DDPI to take action against schools not giving admissions to students under RTE under Section 18(5). Around 3,828 children have applied for seats under RTE and 3021 children have been admitted to various schools.
Beerihundi Basavanna urged the administration to appoint guest teachers as 221 posts are vacant out of 326 in primary and high schools.
ZP president Nayima Sultana expressed her dissatisfaction over the delay in distribution of uniforms and text books.
