Mysuru, August 1:- With an aim to spread legal awareness among the people in the district and make the citizens aware of their rights, the District Legal Services Authority launched the ‘Legal literacy vehicle’ (Kaanunu Saksharatha Vehicle) at Mysuru Law Courts premises in the city on Wednesday.
Principal District and Sessions Court Judge S K Vontigodi flagged off the mobile vehicle designed to spread the importance of law and create awareness among people on their rights and about the legal system.
Speaking on the occasion, Vontigodi said, “The programme is focused to create awareness and sensitise the people about their rights. The literacy rate in the district is good while the legal literacy rate needs to be increased among the general public. The vehicle launched today will travel to various places in the district in the next few days to underscore the importance of legal empowerment of all sections of the society.”
The legal literacy vehicle will travel across the city starting from today till August 4. The vehicle will halt near Kuvempu PU College, JSS Women’s College at Saraswathipuram and Maharaja College Hostel and cover several PU and degree colleges across the city in next 3 days. The vehicle will organise programmes everyday and various resource persons from District Legal Services Authority and other NGOs will educate people on the basic legal aspects, about Motor Act, Right To Information (RTI), Lok Adalat, Police Complaint box, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
