Kacha Devayani Yakshagana held at Bahuroopi

Mysuru, February 18:- Yaksha Sinchana Trust of Bengaluru staged Kacha Devayani Yakshagana at Vanaranga of Rangayana as part of Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival on Monday evening. The Yakshagana was directed by Krishnamurthy Thunga.

The story is about Kacha, son of Brihaspati, going to Shukracharya, the guru of demons to learn Sanjivini, the hymn capable of reviving the dead.

Daughter of Shukracharya, Devayani falls in love with Kacha. Demons kill him twice, but Shukracharya revives him. They kill again and Shukracharya revives him again. He rejects to marry Devayani as she is the daughter of his guru. She curses him saying the Sanjivini hymn would be of no use for him. The audience enjoyed the emotional storyline of the Yakshagana throughout. (MR\KS).
