Bengaluru, June 4:- Veteran actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan met Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy at his official residence ‘Krishna’ on Monday and discussed the contentious Cauvery water sharing issue.
Speaking at a joint press conference after the discussion, the 63-year-old founder-president of Makkal Needhi Maiam said, “I am ready to bridge the gap between the two states over the controversial Cauvery river water sharing issue. I have come here on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu and not as an actor or a politician. We need water for our crop and Kumaraswamy has responded positively.”
Chief Minister Kumaraswamy said that “maintaining harmonious relation between the two states and expediting the resolution of the issue keeping in mind the interest of farmers of both the states were discussed.”
“We did not discuss anything about the Rajnikanth starrer movie ‘Kaala.’ That is related to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce,” he added. -(KK)
