“Kanakadasa is one of the major saint poets of the ‘Bhakthi Panth’. He is one of the reformers the land has ever witnessed. Kanakadasa is a multi talent and worked as saint, poet, reformer, and philosopher. We should follow the path Kanaka towed to erase all the anti social elements such as inequality,” said JD(S) Mysuru city President Rajanna
He was speaking at the Kanaka Jayanti organised at the JD(S) office on Thursday.
“Caste based discrimination, superstition and injustice are threats to the society and the works of Kanakadasa are medicines to those social evils. To overcome these, we should understand and follow the message of equality given by him,” he said.
“Kanakadasa who was born in a lower class family, worked for the collective good of the society. He called upon the people to not fight in the name of caste and religion through his ‘Keerthanas’,” he said.
City JD(S) secretary Mudduraj, president of law wing Ravichandra Gowda, Shailendra, Venugopal, Basappa, Lokesh, Krishnappa, Anantharaju, Rizwan, Ramu and others were present.
