Kannada activists oppose move to relocate Centre for Excellence

A delegation of Kannada activists and theatre personalities met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and petitioned him against the move to relocate the Centre for Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada.

The delegation including former Rangayana director H Janardhan, director of Kuvempu Kannada Institute Preethi Srimantharakumar, writer Aravinda Malagatti, Kannada activist P Mallesh and others met the CM at his residence in Bengaluru and urged him to retain the centre for excellence in Mysuru and not shift it to Bengaluru. The delegates said that if it remains in the Mysuru, it can be utilised for refereeing manuscripts and archives.

To decide the faith of the centre for excellence a meeting will be convened on Tuesday (tomorrow) at the CIIL campus where the director will discuss the state and centre’s opinion on the institute.
