Kannada language should be protected: Prof M Chidananda Murthy

Mysuru, November 16:- “Kannada language has its own long history. We should work towards protecting the language,” said scholar Prof M Chidananda Murthy.

He was speaking at 63rd Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations held at Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) here on Friday.

“Mysore is like my home. Though I worked in Bengaluru, I have fond memories with Mysuru. Proudly, I recall Kuvempu, Ti Nam Shri on this occasion. Kannada got its identification because of Mayura Verma of the Kadamba dynasty,” Prof Murthy said.

He explained how Mayura Verma contributed to the development of Kannada.

Prof T V Venkatachala Shastry and Prof Murthy were felicitated on the occasion.

Director of CIIL Prof D G Rao, Dr L Ramamurthy, programme director Prof K R Durga Das and others were present. (MR/KS)
