Kannada Chaluvali Kendra Samiti activists on Tuesday distributed fruits to the patients admitted to JSS Hospital as part of 61st Kannada Rajyotsava celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pushpa Amarnath, former Zilla Panchayat President, said: “This could be one of the best possible ways that we can celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava. Our love towards our region and dialect should not be limited to slogans but also it should be celebrated by reaching out to the people in need.”
“In recent days, there have been several tension triggered in the region over water and language. We need to be more active and courageous enough to protect our rights. Our state government is planning to take necessary steps to make Kannada as mandatory in Karnataka. The survival of Kannada is possible only when it is spoken in daily life,” she added.
Rajashekhar Koti, veteran journalist, K S Raghuramaiah Vajapeyi, cultural thinker and others were present.
