Karnataka not in favour of Mysuru-Thalasherry railway line

Bengaluru, February 8:- The Karnataka government has made it clear that the state is not in favour of Mysuru-Thalasherry railway line that passes through Kodagu district.

During the zero hour at the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Large and Medium Industries Minister R V Deshpande said that we are aware of public opinion on the project and we are not in favour of the project. Replying to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member K G Bopaiah, Deshpande said, “Even the forest department has opposed the proposal on the grounds that this will affect the wildlife corridor and we will not allow any detailed project report to be prepared on the railway project.”

“Till now we have not received any official proposal on it from the Kerala government or from the Railway Department, we will take a call in the interest of environment if there are any such proposals,” the minister said.
