Karnataka Praja Party opposes plan to construct new Parliament building

Mysuru, May 20:- Karnataka Praja Party has opposed the Centre’s move to construct a new Parliament building.

“The entire nation is struggling because of Covid-19 pandemic. Crores of people have lost their jobs. Labourers are having a tough time. Merchants can’t purchase the crops of farmers. Crops are being destroyed in farms,” said the founder of the party, Dr B Shivanna at a press meet held at Jaladarshini Guest House here on Wednesday.

“At this time juncture, the central government is planning to spend Rs 20,000 crore for the construction of the new Parliament building in Delhi. The government should stop such expenditure immediately and utilise the money to protect the welfare of the farmers,” he added.

He warned of intense protests in the coming days if the government doesn’t back off from its decision.
