105 new Covid-19 cases surface in Karnataka on Friday

Coronavirus active cases in Karnataka stands at 1,080 with 41 fatalities

Health News, Karnataka, Bengaluru, May 22:- With 105 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in Karnataka, the tally reached 1,710 with 41 deaths and 588 cured and discharged from designated Covid-19 Government Hospitals.

According to morning bulletin from Health and Family Welfare Services, Government of Karnataka, a total of 1,710 patients have tested positive till May 22, with 17 discharges and the active cases in the state stands at 1,080.

Six patients from Bengaluru Urban – 433, 462, 654, 706, 708 and 711, four from Vijayapura – 275, 510, 538 and 769, three from Kalaburagi – 697, 698 and 699, two from Bagalkote – 683 and 702, Belagavi one – 486 and from Dakshina Kannada P-506 have been discharged on Friday.

Among the 105 cases reported on Friday, the bulk of the positive cases, 45 were reported from Chikkaballapura followed by Hassan with 14 cases, Bengaluru Urban – 9, Tumakuru – 8, Bidar – 6, Chikkamagaluru – 5, Mandya, Haveri and Chitradurga – 3 cases each, Dharwad and Vijayapura – 2 cases each and Bagalkote, Chitradurga, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada – one case each.

Of the 105 Covid-19 cases reported on Friday, 59 were men, 40 women and 5 cases of children below 10 years of age.

The Karnataka government recently opened its borders to migrant labourers who have been employed in big numbers in Mumbai, Telangana, Jharkhanda and New Delhi. Of the 105 cases reported, 55 have links to Maharashtra and two to New Delhi.

The other causes of the infection are from patients with history of visit to containment zones, Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI), Influenza like Illness (ILI) and through previous patient contacts.

In Davangere, 3 patients were infected through a single source P-1483 and P-706 from Bengaluru Urban has infected two persons. Contact tracing is underway in two cases.

With three new cases on May 22, Mandya’s active cases tally goes up to 179 with no deaths so far, Bengaluru Urban has 131 active cases with 9 deaths, highest in the state, followed by Davangere with 100 cases with 4 deaths, Kalaburagi has 72 cases with 7 fatalities, Hassan 66 but no deaths and Belagavi has reported 61 cases with 1 death.
