Covid-19 cases tally rise to 1,373 with 127 fresh cases in Karnataka on Tuesday; death toll at 40

Biggest cases were reported from Mandya, with 62 cases tally rises to 151 from 89

Health News, Karnataka, Health, Disease, Bengaluru, May 19:- Karnataka on Tuesday (May 19) saw a big jump in novel coronavirus positive cases and the tally rising to 1373 after 127 fresh cases were reported.

With 40 deaths, 530 cured and discharged from designated Covid-19 hospitals, the active cases stands at 802 as of May 19, according to the morning bulletin on website of Health and Family Welfare Services Department, Government of Karnataka.

The biggest cases were reported from Mandya, with 62 cases the tally reached 151 from 89 the previous day followed by 19 cases from Davangere, Shivamogga – 12, Kalaburagi – 11, Bengaluru Urban – 6, Udupi and Uttara Kannada – 4 each, Hassan – 3 and Yadgir, Gadag, Chitradurga and Vijayapura – one case each.

Bulk of the cases are linked to the patients with travel history to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, Madurai and previous contacts. Some of the cases were attributed to a visit to containment zones, Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) and Influenza Like Illness (ILI).

Among the cases reported on May 19, 67 were men, 55 women, one-year-old boy, two-year-old boy, two girls aged 8 and a 8-year-old boy.

A 12-year-old boy (P-1303) from Shivamogga has history of travel to Kerala, 15-year-old girl (P-1304) and 63-year-old man (P-1305). The contact tracing of these patients is underway.

A 11-year-old boy (1370), 13-year-old girl (1371) from Davangere contracted the virus through P-976; P-1372, a 35-year-old woman also from Davangere wa infected with the virus from P-662 and P-1373, a 70-year-old man from Davangere contracted the novel coronavirus through patient 556. (NAV)
