Covid-19 cases rise to 2,493 in Karnataka on Thursday; 47 fatalities

Health News, Karnataka, Bengaluru, May 28:- With 75 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (May 28), Karnataka’s tally of confirmed cases has reached 2,493 with 47 fatalities and 809 patients cured / discharged from designated Covid-19 Government Hospitals and the active cases stands at 1635, according to afternoon media bulletin from Health and Family Welfare Services, Government of Karnataka.

On May 28, 28 patients were discharged – nine from Yadgir, eight from Davangere, four from Vijayapura, three from Dakshina Kannada, two from Balagavi, one each from Bagalkote and Mysuru (P-1510).

Of the 75 cases, 27 cases have been reported from Udupi followed by Hassan (13), Yadgir (7), Bengaluru Urban (7), Dakshina Kannada and Chitradurga – 6 cases each, Kalaburagi and Chikkamagaluru – 3 cases each, Vijayapura – two cases and Raichur reported a lone case.

47 men, 19 women, 8-year-old boy, 11-year-old boy, 12-year-old boy, 15-year-old boy, 6, 11 and 13-year-old girls are among those confirmed cases reported on May 28.

As in previous days, on Thursday also big chunks of cases were reported from Maharashtra (46) followed by Tamil Nadu (6), Telangana two, New Delhi one case and Saudi return and Kerala migrants who returned to Karnataka amid Covid-19 outbreak tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Patient 1240 has infected six persons, while Patient 2441 infected one and one case attributed to Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI).

The Karnataka government recently allowed the migrants labourers who have migrated to other states in search of jobs to return to the state with stringent measures in place such as thermal screening, swab testing, social distancing and mandatory wearing of face mask.

The state also made compulsory 7 days institutional quarantine to the people who are coming from outside the state and from overseas. On May 28, no new coronavirus deaths have been reported in the state.

The state had reported total of 893 cases in the last one week- on May 21 (143), May 22 (138), May 23 (216), May 24 (69), May 25 (93), May 26 (101) and on May 27, 135 confirmed cases. (NAV)
