Karun Nair to lead Mysuru Warriors team in Maharaja Trophy T20 tournament

Prime News, Karnataka, Sports, Cricket, Mysuru, August 3:- Mysuru Warriors sponsored by Cycle Pure Agarbathi has announced Karun Nair as its team captain who will be leading the Mysore Warriors cricket team for Maharaja Trophy (formerly known as Karnataka Premier League) for the T20 tournament.

Karun Nair was proposed as the team captain by Mysuru Warriors management following the selection process. The announcement took place on July 30 during the team selection ceremony held at the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The 30-year-old prolific batsman began his batting career with his international debut on India’s limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe where he featured in a couple of ODIs. After Virender Sehwag, Karun Nair became only India’s second triple-centurion when he accomplished the feat against England in his second Test match in 2016.

Speaking on the captain selection, Arjun Ranga, Managing Director, Cycle Pure Agarbathi, says, “The amount of effort that will go in the team training will be enormous. He must maintain his physical fitness and agility. The captaincy will bring a challenging opportunity for Nair and his dedication and efforts will only add value to the team. His leadership role will strengthen the team position in the game and as we have immense hope for the team this year, his captaincy will only take the team to new heights.”

Speaking on his captaincy, Karun Nair, Team Captain, Mysuru Warriors, says, “I am humbled with this responsibility, I have played for the country and now it is time for me to bring the experience to the team and nurture some good players. This is my second year of captaincy with the Mysuru Warriors, and I am positive that we are going to make everyone proud.”

P V Shashikant has been appointed as the head coach of the team.

The team consists of K L Akshay as the assistant coach, K L Ashwath as selector, T Manjunath as physiotherapist, Irfanullah Khan as trainer and Kiran K as video analyst respectively. (MR)
