Mysuru, September 27:- “Kautilya’s economics is still relevant. The political, economic, legal, social, criminal, and psychological disciplines of that time were meaningfully implemented in the administration and the citizens were adhering to it without fail,” said legal expert Dr CKN Raja.
He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on ‘Kautilyan Economics” organised by the Law University and Karnataka State Law University on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Law University at Hubballi at Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions here in the city, on Friday.
“Those who did not carry out the responsibility of discipline would be severely punished. We continue to practice law as part of this. Levying a tax on citizens was also started during Kautilya’s time,” he said. “Today’s law students can provide the best possible justice,” he added.
“It has been ten years since Karnataka State Law University was established. In this context, special lectures, seminars, quiz and debates are held in law schools across the state, with the intention of providing a platform for law students to uncover the hidden talents. Students should participate in such programmes in large numbers,” said Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University, Dr Eshwar Bhat.
