KIADB row: Farmers demand compensation for land acquired

 Demanding the state government to release compensation for farmers those lost their property six years ago during the land acquisition drive conducted by Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), the farmers in Bilikere Village in association with Satya MAS Foundation President and former taluk panchayat member Satyanarayana threatened to take out a protest rally to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence, if the government failed to release compensation to the farmers.
Addressing mediapersons on Friday, Satyanarayana said that farmers of Manuganahalli, Hulenahalli, Dallalu, Handanahalli, Ankanahalli, Doddebichanahalli, Chikkabichchanahalli, Haradanahalli, Shankahalli in Bilikere hobli had lost 3,488 acres of land during land acquisition. Till now the farmers have not received even a rupee of compensation from the government. The situation created by the goverad forced many farmers to commit suicide as they were left with no source of income.
Farmers including Handanahalli Basappa, Puttaswamy, Puttabasappa, Basavaraju, Chikkanayaka were present during the press meet.
