Kittur Rani Chennamma an epitome of bravery: Dr YD Rajanna

Prime News, National, Karnataka, Freedom, Mysuru, October 23:- Yuva Bharat organisation had organised Kittur Rani Chennamma Jayantotsava at Freedom Fighters’ Park on Narayan Shastry Road here on Saturday (October 23). The volunteers planted various saplings to mark the occasion.

Senior social activist Dr K Raghuram Vajapayee said, “There is a need to install the bust of Chennamma in her memory. This is one of the ways to remember her contribution to the country.”

Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Dr Y D Rajanna, said, “Chennamma was one of the few Indian rulers who fought against the British. She spread the message of self-respect and bravery. At a time, when the whole world is dilly-dallying with women empowerment, Chennamma’s achievements should open the eyes of the authorities.”

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) member Pramila Bharat said, “Chennamma showed to the world that anything can be achieved if there is determination and talent. She fought against the British to safeguard her small empire. We should always remember her for her bravery.”

Yuva Bharat’s Jogi Manju, senior journalist Anil Kumar, Jeevadhara Girish, Women and Children Social Welfare Department’s director Renuka Raj, Zoo Authority of Karnataka director Jyothi Rachana, BJP Yuva Morcha leader from Chamaraja constituency, Sachin and others were present. (MR/KS)
