KREDL conducts programme on ‘Energy crisis’ for Bed students

The Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), branch office Mysuru, conducted a drive to educate BEd students on energy crisis at Vasantha Mahal in city, recently.

With the objective of creating a sense of responsibility among students towards the current energy crisis and inspiring them to take action to spread awareness on renewable energy resources. The programme aimed at increasing the knowledge of students and lecturers on a range of renewable energy technologies, their applications and economics of use.

A special vehicle fitted with various solar energy systems and devices like solar water heating system, solar home lighting system, solar street lights, parabolic cooker, box type cooker, solar water pumps, solar lantern, solar-powered TV, solar education kit, etc., was demonstrated to the students.

More than 100 students got first hand understanding of how solar water heaters, solar cooking stoves, street lamps and solar LED lamps work. The energy is not only renewable, but clean and hence, ‘green,’ was the take-home message.

Dinesh Kumar D K, Project Engineer KREDL, explained about the renewable energy and energy conservation opportunities in school and domestic sectors for school children.

Lecturers K Jagadhish, D M Subbe Gowda, Purushotham, Muralidhar,  teaching and non-teaching  staff were present.
