Krishna Janmashtami: 3-day music fest from tomorrow

To mark Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Ganabharathi is organising a music festival for three days from August 26 at Veene Sheshanna Bhavan. 

 The inaugural concert will be flute recital by Vidwan A Chandan Kumar at 6 p.m tomorrow.

He will be accompanied on the violin by Vidwan Mattur Srinidhi, on the mridangam by Vidwan H.S. Sudheendra and on the ghatam by Vidwan G.S. Ramanujam.

On Saturday, the organisation will felicitate three personalities for their service to the field of classical music.

They are Vidushi R N Srilatha for her contribution to Carnatic music, C R Himamshu, for serving Carnatic music by organising music festivals under the auspices of SPVGMC trust and other organisations since 55 years, and Anasuya Kulakarni, who was instrumental in adopting an Angklung, an Indonesian instrument to Carnatic classical music, the release added.

M K Somashekhar, MLA, will be the chief guest and C.G. Narasimhan, President, Ganabharathi will preside over the function.

Prizes will be distributed to the winners of the music competition held on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

This will be followed by Angklung rendering by Anasuya Kulakarni, who will be accompanied by Vidushi Veena Suresh on violin, Vidwan B N Ramesh on mridangam and Vidwan V S Ramesh on ghatam, while Tapasya and Kumari Janhavi will support Anusuya Kulakarni on Angklong.

On Sunday, there will be a vocal concert featuring Vidwan Sunil R Gargyan, an upcoming artist from Chennai.

He will be accompanied by Vidwan Rahul on the violin, Vidwan Anur Ananthakrishna Sharma on the mridangam and Vidwan G. S. Ramanujam on the ghata, the release added.
