KRRS decries hike in consumer gas prices

Mysuru, April 26:- Condemning the hike in LPG cylinder prices, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) staged a protest in front of Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha’s office in the city here on Monday (April 26). They also protested against various other issues related to the farmers.

Talking to reporters, the protesters said, “The Centre has been promising to double farmers’ income by 2022 but ironically, the prices of fertilisers have been raised unscientifically. Many of the farmers may be forced to quit farming itself if the present trend continues. Other countries are giving subsidies to farmers but not India.  The subsidies that the Centre used to give to farmers are on the wane. Because of the reduction in fertiliser subsidy, fertiliser companies have increased the prices. The Centre has to take note of the situation and take proper steps that are helpful to the farmers.”

They said, “More importantly, the central government should scrap the draconian farm laws and privatisation of power supply. The price of LPG cylinder also needs to be reduced.”
