Mysuru, July 13:- Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has written to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for permission to increase BEd course seats, said its Vice-Chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar here on Tuesday (July 13).
Talking to reporters at a press conference, he said, “At present, 500 students are allowed. Considering KSOU has done well in all the departments, we are writing to NCERT to consider our request. We are planning to increase the seats to 2,000 if permission is granted and we are confident of a positive reply.”
Prof Vidyashankar said, “KSOU has completed 25 years and we are planning new programmes. We are planning for a building with all the facilities. Right from admission till results, it will be totally computerised. Online training for Karnataka Administrative Service, Indian Administrative Service and banking examinations is being given. There are also plans to include under-graduate, post-graduate and PhD programmes.”
The Vice-Chancellor said, “KSOU has earmarked Rs 10 crore to develop Government Schools. Computer lab and WiFi facilities are being offered at the university campus. We have also donated 10 oxygen concentrators to the district administration. All students at regional centres will be vaccinated in the coming days.” (MR/KS)
