Mysuru, November 3:- The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), which is elated by the unprecedented response from the students for distance education has now decided to start additional courses according to the norms of UGC.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the board of management (BoM) of the university held on Friday in the presence of Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof D Shivalingaiah.
The BoM will start courses in BSc, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (BZC), Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Science (SMC), Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), Master of Social Work (MSW), MSc (Botany) and MSc (Zoology) courses from the academic year 2019-20.
UGC and state government have instructed KSOU to provide various services such as entrance, fee payment and examination online. The university has made an agreement with the State Bank of India (SBI). The university has already formed an ordinance relating to the fee structure and has decided to provide online services for hassle-free payments. The online payment system will be established at the central office of KSOU. The varsity is beginning certificate courses, diploma and PG diploma courses from the academic year 2018-19. Admissions for these courses will be held according to the committee formed by the vice-chancellor, led by the dean of academics. PhD courses will begin from January and UGC has already permitted for the PhD courses. (MR/KS)
