Prime News, State, (Bengaluru), January 13:-State-owned Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is introducing bus ambulances equipped with emergency medical facilities in order to reduce the mortality rate in accidents.
KSRTC plans to introduce the bus ambulance in all its 16 divisions in the state.
Transport Minister H M Revanna on Friday formally inducted the first ambulance bus into the Bengaluru central division. The ambulance, named Accident Mass Rescue Wagon, equipped to treat eight critically injured and 16 others with minor injuries on the spot. It is equipped with medical systems, including defibrillators, Electro Cardio Gram (ECG), pulse Oxymetry Monitors, oxygen and suction pipes and communication systems for video conferencing with the control room.
KSRTC plans to provide one such ambulance in major depots of all divisions and the service will be extended to North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) and North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC).
Golden Hour Trust in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the corporation initially will provide 400 first aid kits for the buses while KSRTC will procure more in coming days.
KSRTC Managing Director S R Umashankar said the number of accidents in the KSRTC has come down in the recent years. “Unfortunately, the number of deaths has remained in the range of 300-350. The KSRTC will have four training schools where its personnel will learn about providing essential first aid treatment in golden or critical hour,” he said.
The Corporation also awarded silver medal to 82 drivers who have not caused any accident or violated any rules for five years.
