“Contentment and human values play a significant role in establishing a corruption- free society,” said Justice Santosh Hegde.
He was addressing a gathering at the book release event of ‘Kuvempu Malenadu’, authored by Dr K Puttaswamy, organised by Kuvempu Kannada Study Centre in association with Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Prathishthana at B M Sri Auditorium in the city on Thursday.
He said: “In this changing world, corruption is increasing day by day. People who are wealthy and powerful are ruling the society. Everyone in the society is having a mindset that the system is corrupt but no one bats an eye or makes an attempt to bring in a change. Legitimately earned money or property is not a product of sin but earning through unlawful ways leads to corruption.”
“In the year 2010, Commonwealth Games scandal was brought to limelight and later coal scam and 2G scams worth a lakh crore were brought in to limelight. Corruption is increasing and it’s in the hands of youngsters to fight against the corrupt society and have two important values – ‘contentment’ and ‘humanity’ to create a corruption- free society,” he said.
Earlier, a book titled ‘Kuvempu avara Samagra anuvadagalu’ authored by Dr Charashekhara N Gettahalli was released by Vice chancellor of University of Mysore, Prof K S Rangappa.
